What data am I looking at?
Company search uses the Nasdaq Trader symbol directory, with Yahoo Finance as a fallback, to find US-listed equities and Stock Analysis to retrieve their financial statistics. The five starter companies include dated snapshots of all six factors. Use Refresh data for a new retrieval. Older saved company records are upgraded automatically when selected. Imported company data can be refreshed on demand and may be cached for five minutes. Prices may be delayed and have their own observation times. Financial metrics use the latest trailing twelve months (TTM) or balance sheet available in the source at review time. Sources may have different update times, especially around earnings.
Imported and snapshot data: Stock Analysis, which attributes financial statistics to S&P Global Market Intelligence. Cash definitions can differ; Apple's cash field includes marketable securities. Confirm the original filings before relying on a ratio.
Your original overall stock score · 0–10
The overall score is the weighted sum of your original six factor scores. The model is preserved from the Python research engine, with the original thresholds and weights.
| Factor | Weight | What it measures |
|---|
| Growth | 20% | Quarterly YoY revenue and EPS growth |
| Profitability | 20% | Net profit margin and return on equity |
| Valuation | 20% | Forward P/E and PEG |
| Financial health | 20% | Cash, debt, liquidity and cash flow |
| Momentum | 10% | 50/200-day price trend and 14-day RSI |
| Risk | 10% | Annualised volatility and maximum drawdown |
| Total | 100% | Four fundamentals: 80%; price-based factors: 20% |
These are the original model's chosen screening weights, not statistically optimised forecasts. Higher factor scores contribute more positively. A higher risk score means lower historical volatility and drawdown. These are research signals, not buy or sell instructions.
Available inputs are averaged within growth, profitability and valuation. Missing inputs are shown as N/A. A factor with no usable inputs is unavailable. The overall score requires all six factors; missing weights are never silently redistributed and missing data is never assigned a neutral 5.
Growth and profitability
Growth uses the latest reported quarterly year-on-year revenue and diluted EPS growth from Stock Analysis statements. Each growth rate ≥25%, ≥15%, ≥8%, ≥0%, or below 0% scores 10, 8, 6, 4, or 1. Profitability averages net profit margin and ROE: ≥25%, ≥15%, ≥8%, >0%, or ≤0% scores 10, 8, 6, 4, or 1. High leverage and buybacks can inflate ROE. Supporting ROA and operating-margin metrics are displayed but carry no extra weight.
Momentum and historical risk
Daily history comes from Yahoo Finance. Adjusted closing prices are used where provided; missing or invalid observations are excluded. Momentum requires 50- and 200-day averages and RSI based on simple average gains/losses over 14 trading intervals. Start at 5: above/below the 50-day average adds/subtracts 1; above/below the 200-day average adds/subtracts 2. RSI 50–70 adds 2; 40–<50 adds 1; >80 subtracts 1; <30 subtracts 2. Clamp to 0–10.
Annualised volatility is the sample standard deviation of daily percentage returns multiplied by √252. Maximum drawdown is the worst fall from a previous closing-price peak. Risk averages the volatility subscore (<20%, <30%, <40%, <50%, otherwise: 10, 8, 6, 4, 2) and absolute-drawdown subscore (<10%, <20%, <30%, <40%, otherwise: 10, 8, 6, 4, 2). The available one-year window and observation count are shown; newly listed companies may lack the 200 observations needed for momentum.
Historical return metrics use 21 and 126 trading intervals for one/six months and first-to-last prices in the available one-year window. The historical chart samples every fifth daily observation for readability; all valid daily observations are used in calculations. Historical metrics use their own latest close and date, which can differ from the displayed quote.
Valuation score · 0–10
Adapted from your Python engine. Average of available forward P/E and PEG subscores. Lower multiples earn more points; a high score means cheaper by these simple thresholds, not necessarily undervalued.
| Points | Forward P/E | PEG |
|---|
| 10 | ≤15 | ≤1 |
| 8 | ≤20 | ≤1.5 |
| 6 | ≤30 | ≤2 |
| 4 | ≤40 | ≤3 |
| 2 | >40 | >3 |
Nonpositive or missing multiples are excluded. No available multiples means “N/A”. Sector differences and the quality of earnings matter.
Financial-health score · 0–10
Start at 5. Cash exceeds debt: +2; debt exceeds 3× cash: −2; otherwise debt exceeds cash: −1. Current ratio ≥2: +1.5; ≥1: +0.5; below 1: −1.5. Positive free cash flow: +1, otherwise −1. Positive operating cash flow: +0.5, otherwise −0.5. Clamp the result to 0–10. All five health inputs are required; missing data returns N/A. This general model is unsuitable for banks and insurers.
Scenarios, not price forecasts
Target price = current TTM EPS × (1 + annual EPS growth)years × exit P/E. Annualised price return = (target ÷ reference price)1/years − 1. Default growth and exit multiples are illustrative assumptions, not analyst estimates. The chart interpolates the P/E multiple and compounds EPS to show a possible path. No probabilities, dividends, fees, tax or FX are included. The model is unavailable when EPS is nonpositive.
Investment calculator
The annual rate is an effective annual return; monthly rate = (1 + annual rate)1/12 − 1. Initial investment compounds monthly and contributions are added at each month end. “Lump sum only” sets monthly contributions to zero. GBP and USD change the unit label; there is no currency conversion. No fees, tax, inflation or FX are included. A constant return path is an illustration, not a backtest or a guarantee.
